Description

Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) powder is the solid, powdered form of sodium lauryl sulfate—a synthetic anionic surfactant that is the sodium salt of lauryl sulfate—widely used for its strong cleansing, foaming, and emulsifying properties in personal care, household, and industrial products.

Sodium lauryl sulfate powder appears as a white or slightly yellowish crystalline or fine granular substance with a faint characteristic odor; it is highly soluble in water, producing a rich, stable foam and effective emulsions by reducing surface tension between liquids and oils. Chemically, it consists of a hydrophobic 12-carbon alkyl chain and a hydrophilic sulfate group, allowing it to interact with both water and oily substances. The powder form is easy to transport and handle, making it suitable for use in powdered detergents, cleansers, shampoos, and various formulations requiring a dry surfactant ingredient. However, due to its strong detergent nature, it may cause irritation to the skin or eyes upon direct or prolonged contact.
