Description

The Newly improved Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate is a highly stable, oil-soluble derivative of Vitamin C. It is produced by esterifying ascorbic acid with isopalmitic acid, resulting in a lipophilic molecule with enhanced stability and skin penetration.

Unlike water-soluble Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid), this derivative demonstrates superior resistance to oxidation, heat, and pH degradation. Its lipophilic structure allows it to integrate effectively into the skin’s lipid barrier, enhancing delivery and bioavailability.

Once absorbed, skin enzymes gradually convert it into active ascorbic acid, enabling sustained antioxidant and brightening activity with reduced irritation potential

The palmitate portion of this ingredient lends it hydrating properties many other forms of vitamin C do not have. Ascorbyl palmitate is considered a stable form of vitamin C, research has shown other forms possess greater stability and skin can more freely convert those forms to ascorbic acid. However, a comparative study showed that ascorbyl palmitate maintains adequate stability in different types of emulsions when it is encapsulated.
