Cetearyl Alcohol NF is a vegetable sourced fatty alcohol derived from sustainable palm and coconut oil fatty alcohols (cetyl and stearyl alcohol) used to thicken and stabilize formulations. Cetearyl Alcohol imparts an emollient feel to the skin. It can be used in water-in-oil emulsions, oil-in-water emulsions, and anhydrous formulations.
This alcohol is an emollient, which means it softens the skin and hair. Manufacturers also use it to stabilize emulsions, which are mixes of oil and water
Cosmetics Functions of Cetearyl Alcohol NF:
- create an emulsion, which is a blend of oils and water
- stabilize foams
- increase foaming capacity
- change the thickness of liquids
