Description

Emulsifying Wax BP is a vegetable based, Oil in water, anionic and self-emulsifying base which is also known as Cetearyl Alcohol and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. This type of wax helps in mixing or emulsifying the water phase and oil phase together to form an product. The emulsification occurs when two substances  in this case, oil and water  are successfully bound together, creating a sort of glue that combines the ingredients of a product.

Charge: Anionic

Colour & Appearance: Small white beads/pastilles.

Stable in pH range: 5.5 – 7.0

Recommended Usage: Typically 2-5% for lotions and 5-10% for creams.

Application: Lotions, Creams, Conditioners and hair treatments, cleansers, etc

Mixing Method: Should be added into the oil phase of formulations at temperatures below 50°C and above

Melting Temperature: 50°C (122°F)

Compatibility: Works well with most ingredients.

Alternatives: Ritamulse SCG, Olivem 1000, Btms-50 and Btms-25  will typically work as well, but there will be consistency changes with the first two, and BTMS-50 & BTMS-25 are cationic

Solubility: Oil / water @ 20C

Application: skin care products and hair products
